This Week’s Goal / THE GREAT DEBATE

Hi Everyone,

After writing my practice NAPLAN writing piece, My teacher Mrs. Lefebvre, gave me feedback for my future learning. I have turned her feedback into a goal and my goal is to build up the main characters in my story with lots of detail to make my story more interesting.

Also on Friday I participated in the great debate. I was apart of the For Free Friday team. Free Friday is a day where anyone can play what they want on the grass but they weren’t allowed to play with balls. The games that are played on free Friday are gymnastics, tiggy, people talking and many other things. Some people didn’t agree with this and they decided to write a letter to our principal as why free Friday should be banned. I was pretty annoyed with this because I really enjoyed Free Friday so I wrote a letter to our principal as to why we should keep Free Friday.

With all the letters that had been received, our principal put an end to it all by holding the great debate. There were two teams, Me, Emma, Thomas and Isabella are for Free Friday, with Liam, Andrew, Francesco and Xavier  are against Free Friday. If you are wondering who won the debate, well to my delight, WE DID. Free Friday is back and I’m excited. All the debaters did great and it was a great experience for us all.

If anyone wants to share there opinion on Free Friday you can tell me in a comment.

Hi Everyone,

Today I’m going to tell you about a plugin called compfight. This plugin allows you to access copyright free photos as long as you give credit to who they belong to.

We looked a video which showed the perspectives of people whose work had been taken by somebody, it was kids who did art work and there teacher put other children’s names on it. The kids were disappointed because the put lots of effort in to it.

Clip N Climb

I went to Clip N Climb on the school closure day with my friend Sarah along with her brother Zac and my sister Ava. This was an amazing experience. There were many different kinds of rock climbing walls as well as the vertical slide, leap of faith and the stairway to heaven.

We had to get harnesses on before we could do any of these things for safety, Clip N Climb was very safe and our harnesses had to get checked before we did any of the activities.

My favourite activities would definitely be the Stairway to heaven and the Vertical slide because both of them were exciting, scary and also very challenging. It’s funny that the activities that I were most scared of ended up being my main highlights.

I loved Clip N Climb and I definitely recommend it to everyone who enjoys adventure, challenge and excitement.

Term Two

Term two is here and holidays are over.

Although the holidays coming to an end was quite disappointing, there are many things that I’m excited about like:

Cross country

School concert practises

Anzac day

Italian projects and probably many other things that I don’t know about.

We will have to work very hard in term two because it goes for eleven weeks which means longer time to learn.

My hopes for term two is that it’s full of learning and excitement. I would also like it to fly by- very, very quickly!

What are you excited about for term two!

Easter Holidays

Holidays are here!

I’m looking forward to many things like going to Albury, going to my friends house, Easter and….. CHOCOLATE!!!

I’m going to visit my cousins who live in Albury, Wodonga, and we rarely see them because they live so far away. My cousins are really fun and we go there for Easter. We normally go to mass and do Easter egg hunts. Last year my cousin woke everyone up really early and she toke some of her chocolate.

Easter is a very special time of year and we can often forget the true meaning of Easter. The chocolate eggs are awesome but sometimes Jesus is forgotten. Jesus sacrificed his life for us and was crucified. He resurrected on the third day. The reason for the Easter egg is that it signifies new life.

Happy Easter!

What are you doing on the holidays?

It was anti bullying day on Friday so we all wore our team colours to create the word ‘stop’.

We made this word because it was national day against bullying and  violence and the point of it was to get the message to all unkind people that what they are doing needs to stop.

What did your school do for national day against bullying and violence?

Public Speaking 2015

This year all grade five participated and competed in a public speaking course.

Sylvia is the lady who ran the course. She was strict but as a result of that we have learnt so much. We have prepared many speeches and we have also done impromptu speeches. These speeches are very challenging as you have to make up your speech on the spot.We have talked about visual aids, gestures, emotions, projection and standing correctly with one foot forward and NO FIGLEAF!   ‘Figleaf’, is standing with your arms clasped in front of your body and it is bad because it restricts you from making gestures and doing other important things.

On Wednesday night we had our public speaking evening for 2015 and we had the top ten speakers competing on the night as well as impromptu speeches and skits.

I we all did a great job but I would especially like to congratulate the top three; Katrina, 1st, Benedict, 2nd place and Mia (myself) in third place.

Thankyou to Sylvia, Mr G and the year five teachers for organising this  amazing event.

Bye, and don’t forget to leave a comment!

School With no Rules

In class, we have been talking about the school with no rules. We watched a youtube video about a school in New Zealand with no rules.

Although it did seem fun, the amount of risks these kids were allowed to take was astonishing. What I saw was kids having fun but in a very unsafe and unhygienic environment. But I also think that there is also good in what was going on. I can’t decide what side I’m on!

I have the link below and once you have watched it tell me what you think.
